A Head Teacher's Guide to Photography Day

Everything a school needs to plan a calm, well organised photography day, from the first email to the finished portraits on the wall.
Choosing the Date
The best days sit early in a term, before trips and exams crowd the timetable, and away from the week of a big production or fixture. Give us two or three options and we will hold the one that works for our photographers too.
Avoid the first week back after a long holiday. Uniform is rarely at its best and the register is still settling.
Preparing the Room
A hall with high, even daylight and space to set up away from a thoroughfare is ideal. We bring our own lighting, so a windowless room is not a problem, but we do need a working power socket and a clear ten metres.
Telling Your Families
A short note in the newsletter two weeks before, with the date and what to wear, does more for the quality of the photographs than anything we can do on the day. Parents who know it is coming send their students in looking ready.
After the Day
Proofs reach families within ten working days. Framed orders are hand finished and delivered to the school in time for the end of term, ready to go home.
